Tower of Fantasy is a free-to-play open world action role-playing game developed by Hotta Studio and published by Perfect World. The gameplay involves a planet called Aida which is contaminated with radioactive energy called Omnium and the player is required to navigate through the planet, while fighting mutant creatures and hostile forces, besides uncovering secrets like tower of fantasy. Tower of Fantasy features narrative-driven challenges and anime-style scenes.
Tower of Fantasy provides fast-paced real-time action, complete with multiple kinds of weapons like swords, scythes, guns and more. The players can swap between weapons and choose between character avatars with different abilities. Customisation options are available for the players to create their own characters, with detailed options for appearance. Tower of Fantasy is compatible with Android, iOS, Windows and PlayStation 4 and 5.
Availability in India
The question of a ban on Tower of Fantasy in India does not arise because the game has not been officially launched in the country. The game was launched globally on 11th August 2022. While the game was launched in multiple regions of the world, such as North America, South America, Europe and Japan, it was not released in India.
The most probable reason for Perfect World to exclude India from the list of regions where Tower of Fantasy was launched is the decision of the Government of India to ban Chinese apps in the country. Since Perfect World is a Chinese company, the possibility of a ban on Tower of Fantasy in India was high, provided it was launched in the country.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Government of India banned 59 Chinese apps in June 2020, following border clashes with China at Galwan Valley in Ladakh on the LAC. This was followed by multiple rounds in which more and more Chinese apps were banned in India. Currently, over 400 Chinese apps are banned in India. All the apps have been banned under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. The government has cited data privacy violations and national security threats as the primary reasons for imposing a ban on the Chinese apps.
The scope for officially releasing Tower of Fantasy in India is slim because even highly popular games like PUBG and Garena Free Fire are banned due to Chinese links.
Current Status
Tower of Fantasy is not available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store in India. However, a PC version of the game can be downloaded through its official PC launcher. A PlayStation version for India also exists.
